When I moved to Georgia, one of the first things I wanted to know was…’does GA have good pizza?’. Guess its the NY in me.
In New York, pizza is everwhere… good, bad, fancy, plain, its just everywhere.
When I was in high school, a buddy and I ‘ranked’ the top ten pizza joints in the area.
Not sure if we really wanted to rank them or we just wanted an excuse to eat more pizza… after all, I already knew which place was the best. It was ‘Little Joe’s’ in Wheatly Heights BUT it had to be made by (now retired and probably fishing) ‘Frankie’.
I stumbled upon “Fox’s Pizza Den” just a few days after I got here and certainly had to give them a try.
I walked in and it immediately felt like a cross between a typical pizza joint and a Pizza Hut (there are 2 in Athens but none close enough to be worth the trip). Fox’s was great. First of all the staff was really friendly and fun. They offer everthing from plain personal pie to ‘The Big One’ which is a 30″ pie that has 52 slices. Ok… I need an excuse to order that!
Ok, they also have breadsticks, hero’s, and cookies so there is something for everyone. They have a ‘Little Foxs’ menu for kids and specials during the week to acomodate virtually everyone (including gluten free pizza)
Was it good? It was not a pie made by Frankie but its good pizza! The wings are great and the ‘Fox’s Club’ was really good to! Looking forward to trying out more of the menu. Here is a link to the menu
Feb 2023 update: Ok.. still like the pizza but i’d shy away from the chicken parm pasta. Honestly, I have no doubt in my mind that it was made at least a few weeks ago and put in that tinfoil plate. I did eat it as there was kinda late and didn’t want to make real food. Not sure I have that that quality of pasta dish since grade school cafeteria food.
